I’m Lisa Thompson, founder of Thompson Tests, where I provide high-level ACT and SAT tutoring, strategy, and diagnostic consulting for students who want their scores to reflect their true ability.

I’m a graduate of Vanderbilt University, where I studied Economics, Mathematics, and Music. Before moving into education, I worked in finance for a Fortune 500 company—an experience that shaped how I think about problem-solving, efficiency, and decision-making under pressure.

As my children grew older and I became more involved in local schools, I transitioned into private tutoring and test preparation. Over time, I began to see a consistent pattern: capable students weren’t struggling because they lacked knowledge, but because they didn’t understand how tests like the ACT and SAT are designed—or how to take them strategically.

That insight became the foundation of my work.

Today, I tutor high school and college students in math through Calculus, as well as ACT and SAT preparation. I have also worked extensively with homeschooled, virtual, and nontraditional students across a range of subjects. My focus, however, is always the same: teaching students how to think clearly, make better decisions, and execute effectively under timed conditions.

I score a 36 on the ACT. I believe it’s essential to teach not just from theory, but from experience. Students don’t need vague advice—they need strategies that work in real testing conditions and a guide who understands the test from the inside out.
