ACT Test Prep Focused on Test Design, Strategy, and Score Optimization
At Thompson Tests, students receive personalized ACT tutoring that goes beyond content review and practice tests. I teach students how the ACT is designed, why questions are written the way they are, and how understanding that design changes the way the test should be taken.
In addition to analyzing how students interact with the ACT—time management, pacing, overthinking, guessing, and recovery after mistakes—I train students to recognize test design patterns and structural cues that indicate the most efficient path to the correct answer. This allows students to work faster, avoid unnecessary work, and make more confident decisions under pressure.
Students learn ACT strategies that optimize score improvement, not generic tips. These strategies apply to a significant portion of every ACT exam and are chosen to maximize results within a student’s specific timeline. Practice is targeted, intentional, and focused on behaviors that reliably increase scores.
This approach is ideal for capable students whose ACT scores do not yet reflect their ability and who are ready for a more strategic, individualized form of ACT preparation. Students receive one-on-one instruction designed to build consistency, confidence, and control on test day.
I work with students in the Nashville area, as well as remotely, providing high-level ACT test prep tailored to how students think and how the ACT works.

Thompson Tests Math Tutoring Approach
During math tutoring sessions, students are encouraged to explain their thinking aloud. Talking through problems helps uncover misconceptions, strengthen reasoning, and build confidence—not just arrive at the correct answer.
Rather than memorizing steps, students learn why a method works and how to recognize when to use it. This allows them to tackle unfamiliar problems independently and recover more effectively when they get stuck.
The goal is long-term understanding and confidence, not short-term answer matching.

Thompson Tests ACT & SAT Prep Approach
ACT preparation begins with a full practice test and a detailed analysis—not just of missed questions, but of decision-making patterns, strategy use, and timing behavior.
Students are trained in intentional practice, focusing on ACT strategies that align with how the test is designed and that reliably improve scores. Sessions emphasize test design, behavior under pressure, and executing the right strategy at the right time.
This is an intensive, high-impact approach. Students typically complete about two hours of targeted homework per week, designed to reinforce strategic thinking rather than repetitive drilling.
