Unlocking potential

Our number one goal at Thompson Elite Standarized Test Strategies is to ensure that your child will succeed.

We do not use a cookie-cutter curriculum or a one-size-fits-all approach to teaching and learning.

We start by assessing student learning needs and goals. After assessment we develop lesson plans and tailor approach in order to meet the unique needs of each student.

Students receive one-on-one attention that will help them develop effective study skills that will not only help them now, but also help them succeed in the future. We tutor students located in Nashville, Franklin and Brentwood who are trying to catch up as well as students looking to advance to the next level.

  • TESTS Math Tutoring Approach

During my math tutoring sessions, I encourage my students to talk as much as I do. It is important to guide them into figuring out the answer for themselves instead of just telling them what the right answer is.

Talking through math problems is key for two reasons. 1. For remembering the material 2. For building confidence in their own abilities.

Additionally, this allows the student to see how to tackle the problems independently, especially when they get stuck. I think it is so important for the student to understand why they are doing something, instead of just memorizing the process. Remembering what to do is a whole lot easier when it makes sense to the student.

  • TESTS ACT Prep Approach

For all of my ACT Prep students I start with a practice test. I analyze which questions are missed and the choices made on those questions.

My approach is to encourage intentional practice. I don’t do just drills and go over the answers. I focus a lot on executing the strategies that work for your student, understanding the test and analyzing behavior to address weaknesses.

The Thompson Elite program is intense and effective. Most importantly, the student must be engaged. I can show them how to train for the test, but it is up to the student to put in the work. About 2 hours of detailed homework is assigned each week. The homework assigned encourages students to be more intentional with their practice.

  • ACT /Math Tutoring Services

    Private Math Tutoring
    1-Hour Session
Students bring their homework, test corrections, and questions and we tackle them together. If students need additional practice, I have hundreds of resources for additional practice and guidance.

    Private ACT Prep
    1-Hour Session
    (4-Week minimum commitment)
For the majority of students I recommend they complete the 8-Week Core Program. This is best completed leading up to a specific test date.
If a student has already completed the Core Course or has specific needs, I can hone in on these individual needs/requests. We will target the weak areas and/or build on strength to continue the trajectory of improvement.

    Small Group ACT Prep
    2-Hour Session
    (8 Weeks, max. 6 students)

Periodically, I offer an 8-Week course. This is the complete core 8-Week Thompson Elite Program. The small group ensures that each student receives individualized attention.
